Cashmere Goats

Bob and Pam Marshall have been breeding cashmere goats for over 30 years. What began as a modest 4-H project with three goats for their two children gradually evolved into a long-term family passion, eventually taken over by Bob and Pam after their children left home. Bob has become highly skilled in spinning and judging fine cashmere fiber, and he creates scarves of his own design. Pam has concentrated on breeding and judging both goats and fiber, contributing significantly to the improvement of their herd. Cashmere goats are evaluated as dual-purpose animals, with judging based equally on body conformation and fiber quality (50% each). Now easing into retirement, Bob and Pam are working to reduce their herd to fewer than 15 animals. However, with the irresistible charm of the newborn kids and the goats' endearing personalities, downsizing remains a challenge. The Marshalls have been active participants in the Estes Park Wool Market for over 20 years and have proudly served as the Cashmere Goat Superintendents for more than a decade.
