PREREQUISITE: Students should be able to spin a continuous yarn and be comfortable with their wheel.
MATERIAL FEES: $30
STUDENTS TO BRING: Spinning wheel or e-spinner in good working condition and all its parts, lazy kate and 3 bobbins, wool hand cards, fine ones, mini wool combs if you have them.
DESCRIPTION: Merino is the wool people think of when you say fine wools, but we’ll try some others like Targhee, Cormo, Rambouillet and CVM. We’ll take these fibers for a spin, we’ll wash some locks, card and comb it and spin it woolen and worsted. Then we’ll sample some prepared fibers and blends. At the end of class you’ll have a set of samples and ideas on how to use these delightful fibers.
