DESCRIPTION: The word complement comes from the Latin word complēre, meaning “to complete.” In color theory, we use complements to complete the color blend in our yarn. The interplay of the complementary colors makes the sum much more than the parts.

In this workshop we will explore complements and split complements to see how the complete each other. Then we will take what we’ve discovered and paint yarn skeins to get a complete product sure to receive compliments! You will leave with notes, your color study sheets and skein of yarn to show off.

Here is a quick list of topics covered:

  • We do and learn…. Color theory
  • Explore warm and cool
  • Different types of complements
  • Bight/dull
  • Water color paper studies
  • Painting skeins
  • Color pop and recede
  • Normal and split complements
